Nomads

There was a time in history when some of us were homebodies while others were wanderers.

Nomads moved around foraging and following game. Settlers farmed or fished (I guess) and built cities for trade and community.

Does such a division still exist between the migratory and the stay-in-place?

There are people who sit still in one place, and people who restlessly move about.

Is this ingrained and hereditary? Is it a choice or serendipity?

Of course, there are those who wander in search of fortune or improved circumstances. There are migrants forced to leave home because of political exigencies.

There are also those of us who seek our careers in one place. My story is one of mixed experiences; we once were migrants but I was young; now I choose to be a New Yorker.

Bluey has the best family. Her dad might be a bit rough, but he’s so willing to play along. Mom always leads with kindness.

Kitchen curations

The salad is a curated event. Yesterday, I added a baked potato fresh from the heat to goat cheese, cranberries, and pecans infused greens.

Salad days is such a great phrase!

The made-to-order salad bar gives us such great options to create the perfect salad. And a chance to get it just right again tomorrow.

Let the light in

Watch House is a coffee shop*, and 21 has shut its doors. The Paley Center for Media was my “museum” destination.

*I had a sandwich, but service is very pretty. The coffees have a rarified luxury feel. Next time, Watch House is on my coffee trail.

The Paley library (4th floor) will provide viewing of rare archives from TV 📺 history. It’s worth checking that out!

Less stress

Who thought that mowing the lawn was an avenue to stress relief?

Come to think of it, I used to enjoy a good mow now and again.

The other recommendations include laughing [out loud] – and you knew that one – and chewing gum!

Curious. I guess it’s the aggressive mashing of teeth.

Clean sweep

Why does a new broom sweep clean?

Has the old broom begun shirking its responsibility? Tired, worn down, in a rut?

This broom is meant not just to do a bang-up job cleaning but because of its color to make it a fun experience!

Valentines 💝 decorations are sweet. Their upbeat tempo is irresistible. By the 20th, decorations are gone, and we’re back to business as usual.

That, too, can be sweet, upbeat. We’ll just tap along to our own rhythms. Pa-chong pa-chong….

Floorplan, open loft, insert cubicle

I prefer at least 1000 sq ft of space, open but with little compartments cordoned off.

Cubbies as rooms in imitation of office cubicles would give the illusion of privacy.

This is asking for the best of both studio or loft style and traditional floorplans.
