Quick: how much is a postage stamp?

I was going to say a 1st class stamp, but I think that might be redundant.

Anyway, I bought 10 the other day and muttered something like “Oh, that’s what it costs.” The post man gave me an impassive look. Perhaps he hears that a lot?

The price of those stamps is going up another 5 pennies to $.73.**

This is quite the rise from 12 years ago when postage was just 34č̣. It is also the second increase this year.

**The increase is a little more than double, which may just be a normal economic incline. Or not.... feels like a small BIG deal.

Wonder what the going rate on a postcard looks like!

Whimsical

Whimsy can be charming or over the top. That fine line between kitsch and flights-of-fancy is often drawn at the hands of the observer.

This is kind of cute, isn’t it.

Happy Birthday to the bar code.

What was a novel stab at efficient logistics is now as common as white bread.

50 years today, June 26th, a bar code was sent on its way. It made its debut in Ohio, following that first package.

Another day for the planet

In April, we celebrate Earth Day. On June 5th, it’s a more cumbersomely named event. World Environment Day is a grandly clad observation of what is best for the Earth.

Although it’s a somber and serious project, feel free to rejoice and celebrate.

No, I don’t. I practice the precepts of the religious traditions that have evolved in the West.

I will walk a mile in your shoes. And quote the many wisdoms you may believe. I am not a believer. I do have faith in our better nature.

Something to believe in. And worth practicing.

Don’t ask me that! Tooting my own horn is so.. embarrassing? Uncouth? Uncalled for? What’s there to say? What can I say?

Yeah, go ahead, you praise me. I can sit still for that.

More. Give me more.

What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable?

There are times it’s hard to judge when we’ve had enough. For those of us battling bulges, this is often true around food. It also applies to just the complex and ordinary business of living.

“Having it all” is one of those insatiable goals of the greedy and ambitious. If you are like me a little lazy and indifferent, you probably don’t need to reach quite so high.

I’m ok, I can hear myself utter, I got some of it.

This broom is meant not just to do a bang-up job cleaning but because of its color to make it a fun experience!
